FAQ’S

  • Handwoven fabrics add beauty and character to your surroundings.  Every piece proudly showcases the artisan’s touch through delicate variations and intricate details.

Minor slubs and variations arise from the handweaving process and are embraced as integral to the beauty and appeal of handcrafted fabric. These are inherent attributes and not to be considered defects.

Due to the nature of handwoven textiles, there could be a ½” tolerance for motif placement (repeat) and product size. Please take this into account when you place orders.

Color variation may be apparent in handwoven textiles, particularly in yarns that have been hand dyed. These subtle variations enrich the appeal of the fabric.  While we meticulously strive to match and maintain dye lots, we anticipate a potential of up to 5% variation in handcrafted textiles.

  • We use both natural dyes and synthetic dyes.  Natural dyes are made from things such as indigo, seeds, insects, flowers, tree bark, plants, minerals, and clay.  Synthetic dyes are all Azo-free.  Whether using natural or synthetic dyes, all our cotton is dyed by family owned businesses within Guatemalan communities.

Natural fibers undergo dyeing, while synthetic fibers are injected with color.  Due to the dying process, natural materials like wool, cotton, silk, and linen may fade when exposed to direct sunlight.  We recommend keeping your textiles away from direct sunlight to preserve their color vibrancy.

  • Please be aware that natural fiber fabrics may wrinkle during transit. We suggest using a low-temperature steam to gently smooth out the fabrics. Thank you for your understanding.

To prolong the lifespan of your textiles, we recommend following these simple care instructions: Dry cleaning can weaken the natural fibers in textiles, causing them to become delicate and brittle with time.

We recommend spot cleaning your textile products. If necessary, you can also gently hand wash your fabric products in cold water. Use a mild laundry detergent and wash each product separately. Avoid using bleach, as it can be harsh on the fibers and fade the colors. After washing, gently shake out your textile product and either hang it to dry or lay it flat on a drying rack. If necessary, we recommend using a low-temperature steam. Please take care when cleaning your products, we cannot warranty textiles that have been altered after purchase.

  • To clean inserts, machine wash in hot water with a small amount of mild detergent in a Gentle cycle. Tumble dry on high heat for two cycles with a couple of clean tennis balls to enhance the fluffing.  Let pillows cool completely between cycles.
