Handwoven by Alirio and his team on a footloom, Marimba takes its name from Guatemala's national instrument, the marimba, a symbol of cultural identity so deeply woven into the country's soul that its music is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Like the marimba itself, this fabric is built on rhythm. Its pattern, a cascading arrangement of lines and rectangles that shift and dance across different planes, mirrors the layered complexity of the instrument's resonant notes. To watch Alirio weave it is to witness something similar to a performance, each pass of the shuttle deliberate, each line building on the last into something greater than the sum of its parts.

The technique behind Marimba is as intricate as the story it carries. Alirio's mastery of the footloom allows him to create a textile of extraordinary depth and movement, one that carries the same dynamic energy as the music that inspired it.

  • MATERIALS: 100% Cotton 

    WIDTH: 35” 

    REPEAT: 2”H | 9” V

    MINIMUM: 1 yard

    RESERVES & CFA: CFAs are available on orders over 5 yards. Please email sales@rbcurated.com if the CFA shipping address is different than the fabric shipping address.

  • Spot clean or gently hand wash in cold water. Use a mild detergent and wash each product separately. Hang or lay flat to dry. Do not dry clean.
