How We Define Handcrafted Ethical Luxury

The word luxury gets used a lot. But for us, it has always meant something specific.

In recent years, the luxury industry has faced necessary scrutiny, questions about who makes the goods, under what conditions, and whether the price tag reflects the full chain of human effort behind it. These are the right questions to ask, and they are ones we have been asking ourselves since the very beginning.

Our founder Regan's introduction to Guatemalan textiles was not through a gallery or a design fair. It was a coin purse, made from a traditional huipil that had been cut apart and poorly reassembled. Even in that form, the quality and complexity of the original weaving was unmistakable. Regan found herself wondering why these textiles were not commanding the same reverence as bespoke European fabrics in the luxury market. The artistry was there. The cultural depth was there. The recognition was not.

That gap is what we set out to close.

Redefining What Luxury Means

Handwoven textiles from Guatemala are not a shortcut to beautiful goods. They are the result of techniques passed down through generations, skills that live in the hands and the memory of the women who practice them. A single textile can take months to complete. To us, that is not a footnote, it is the entire point. The time, the knowledge, the cultural continuity embedded in every thread, this is what luxury actually looks like.

It is also why we believe these pieces deserve to be treated as investments. A handwoven throw or pillow is not a seasonal purchase. It is something you keep, something that improves with time, and something you may one day pass on, much like the textiles that have been treasured in Guatemalan families for generations.

Our Approach to Ethical Pricing

We are often asked how we ensure our artisans are paid fairly, and it is a question we welcome. Our answer is simple: we do not set the price. They do.

Rather than pricing based on what the market will bear and working backward, we build our pricing around the rates that our weavers establish for their work. We rely on trusted local partners like Flory, an expert weaver who helps us ensure that every rate reflects the true value of the craft, the time, the skill, and the cultural knowledge required to produce it.

We take this responsibility seriously, and not only for ethical reasons. The survival of these weaving traditions depends on the craft being economically viable for the people who practice it. If the artisans cannot sustain their work, the knowledge disappears with them. Our role is to make sure that does not happen, by building a brand where the integrity of the product and the dignity of its makers are one and the same.

This is what ethical luxury means to us. Not a price point. Not a certification. A commitment to the artisans, made with every piece we bring into the world.

The Hours Behind Every Piece

Did you know that on every product page, we share exactly how many hours each piece took to weave? Because we believe that when you understand the time and skill behind what you are holding, the piece means something more.

Flecha Throw Pillow
$475.00

Flecha, meaning “arrow” in Spanish, draws from the geometric language often found in traditional Guatemalan textiles. Arrows and triangles are longstanding motifs, and in this design, they’re paired with zigzag patterns that evoke the serpent—an important figure in Maya culture representing wisdom, the earth, and abundance.

This pillow was handwoven in the highland town of Nahualá, celebrated for its intricate brocade technique. Each motif is built line by line, with every thread of color carefully hand-placed. The process requires not only deep skill and focus, but also exceptional memory and mathematical precision—resulting in a textile that is as meaningful as it is masterfully made.

Óvalo Throw Blanket
$2,000.00

Handwoven by Alirio and his team on a footloom using the rare falsería technique, this throw is a true expression of master craftsmanship. Once widespread in Guatemala, falsería is now practiced by only a few highly skilled artisans capable of executing its complex patterns. This particular design requires the precise coordination of 50 heddles—a level of difficulty that demands deep technical expertise and intimate knowledge of weaving traditions.

The elegant oval motif is especially rare in Guatemalan textiles, where geometric forms typically dominate. Its presence here reflects both innovation and reverence: a bridge between ancestral symbolism and contemporary expression. The flowing curves and balanced rhythm of the pattern echo the refined sensibility of old-world European textiles, reminiscent of some of Regan’s longtime favorite Italian fabric houses—where tradition, sophistication, and artistry converge.

Due to the loom’s width limitations, this piece was woven in narrow panels, each one aligned with great precision. Every seam and finishing detail by Irma —from the custom-designed layout to the hand-executed joinery—was carefully considered to preserve the integrity of the pattern and elevate the final composition.

Finishing touches such as crochet joinery and a hand-stitched blanket edge add strength, refinement, and a quiet softness to the piece. The result is an original, one-of-a-kind textile that honors centuries of craftsmanship while offering a fresh, enduring addition to thoughtful interiors.

Feliz Throw Pillow
$425.00

The moment we saw the first sample, we knew this pillow could only be called Feliz—Spanish for “happy.” In Mayan culture, color is more than decoration; it’s a language of emotion, celebration, and identity. Feliz honors that spirit with radiant hues, carefully chosen and arranged to spark joy and warmth.

This pillow is a true original by Lidia. The weaver developed and mastered a one-of-a-kind technique to layer vibrant colors in a way that creates movement, dimension, and visual rhythm—bringing the surface to life with a playful energy you can feel. We pulled colors from across our collections to create a palette that feels both nostalgic and fresh, adding versatility to its charm.

Woven from luxuriously soft cotton, Feliz is designed to brighten any space—an expression of happiness, handwoven into every thread.

PRODUCTION TIME: 22 Hours
